Why we do what we do

We've always believed in the positive benefits of movement. It's why we develop products to support more people to move for body and for mind.

Our purpose moves us

In post-war Japan, our founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, saw a need for more than recovery—he saw a need for hope. He believed movement could help, sparking a simple yet profound idea: to uplift the world through sport. Since our founding in 1949, we have remained devoted to creating products that get people moving and keep them moving. Because we believe a body can change its mind. And because ASICS—'Anima Sana In Corpore Sano', or a Sound Mind in a Sound Body—is more than a belief. It is and will always be our purpose.

ASICS

At ASICS we continue to design and develop technologically advanced performance footwear and apparel to support more people in moving for body and mind. Our SportStyle range is inspired by our performance running footwear and fuses its technology with our heritage and modern designs.

Njuko

Njuko is an online registration platform, acquired by ASICS in 2022, designed to simplify the organisation of sporting and endurance events. With customisable options and seamless integration, Njuko allows organisers to focus on creating inspiring experiences that bring communities together through the power of sport.

Race Roster

In 2019, ASICS partnered with Race Roster, a platform for event organisers and athletes. Since 2012, Race Roster has partnered with over 4,000 event organisers to grow, manage and execute on race day.

Runkeeper™

The Runkeeper™ app is a GPS fitness-tracking app for iOS and Android. Launched in 2008 and acquired by ASICS in 2016, the app helps you track workouts, set goals, follow a plan, and stay motivated.

Onitsuka Tiger

Onitsuka Tiger is the original Japanese, sports-inspired fashion brand. Craftsmanship, Japanese heritage and contemporary fashion come together to create premium products like the popular MEXICO™ 66 shoe model.

Proving the impact

At ASICS, we’re committed to creating the highest quality products, whilst being driven by our purpose: to get the world moving and keep them moving for improved wellbeing. To support this purpose, we collaborate with and raise funds for well-known mental health organisations such as Mind (UK) and MIND Us (NL).

Additionally, we regularly conduct meaningful research projects such as ASICS Movement for Mind, the ASICS Global State of Mind Index, Mind Race, Mind Games: The Experiment and Desk Break to bring to light the positive influence of movement on mental wellbeing.

Partnering to move minds

Since 2021, our partnership with Mind has helped support more people to improve their mental health through movement. Together, we've raised valuable funds to power Mind's physical activity programmes, encouraging those of us with mental health challenges to stay active.

The partnership has also enabled the launch of ASICS Get Active running groups and supported vital research into mental wellbeing in elite athletes.

I firmly believe that our purpose at ASICS, along with our dedication to quality and innovation are what distinguishes us as a brand. With every product we create, we strive to uphold our founder's vision of uplifting people's spirits through movement. Our name, ASICS, serves as a constant reminder to us that a Sound Mind and a Sound Body go hand in hand, and it's our goal to help people achieve that balance in their lives.

Our commitment to the planet

To help people achieve a sound mind in a sound body, we need a sound earth. That's why we've made clear commitments to reduce our carbon footprint across our business, globally. As the first sports company to have our emissions reduction plan approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we are committed to driving meaningful change in the apparel and footwear industry.

CO2 ​Targets

Our goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and 63% CO2 reduction by 2030.​

Sustainable Materials​

We aim to use 100% recycled polyester in our shoes and sportswear by 2030.​

Clean Energy

We're moving towards using 100% renewable electricity across our business facilities by 2030.​​ ​

Through leadership training, onboarding, and initiatives like Wellworking, we support purpose, autonomy and belonging.
